Thoughts on the NLFF
Having a succesful club by making connections and finding something real.
I have family and friends all over the state of Louisiana. Lately, I have been getting some surprising feedback. I am getting reports on our fly fishing club, the North Louisiana Fly Fishers.
We get all types of people who get involved with our club. Often, they move out of the area. But, it warms my soul when I hear of some of these former members who have moved out of the region, giving glowing reports about their time when they were involved with the NLFF. Some say that their favorite aspect of living in the ArkLaTex was their involvement in the NLFF.
It takes a lot of work to run a successful fly fishing club. We are lucky enough to have a multitude of fine clubs in the state of Louisiana. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Alexandra/Pineville all have thriving clubs (Forgive me if I left out a club). I just want you to know that the time you take to invest in any club makes a difference.
When you attend meetings, go on outings, and travel to fly fishing shows, you are making connections that matter. Often you are helping someone more than you will ever know. Some folks come to the club to learn to fish. That is fantastic. That is why every NLFF meeting has a "hands on" technical presentation. We also have hands-on fishing trips every month.
Some folks come to the meeting to find something "real". There is nothing more "real" than standing is a clear flowing stream as it bubbles around boulders. You feel the power of the water as it pushes against your waders. When you hook a fish, you have a direct connection with a finny creature from the deep. You feel every tug, leap, dart, and quiver. Then you embrace the fish gently in your net... and you let it go. You have both had the time of your life.
Anyway, a big thank you goes out to all who support the NLFF. Some do financially, some do by participating, some do both ways. Thank you for your involvement in the NLFF. Your participation matters and we truly value your connection!

It is the charge of the North Louisiana Fly Fishers to afford to the general public and our members in particular, a better understanding of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. We wish to perpetuate the sport as a most pleasurable and exciting fishing method and provide education, instructions and the opportunities for relaxation to the membership.
The North Louisiana Fly Fishers (NLFF) serves the Ark-La-Tex area surrounding Shreveport. As the closest cold water fishery, we consider the Little Missouri (Little Mo') river near Murfreesboro, AR our home waters. We also fish the local rivers and lakes. We even have a growing group of kayak fishermen that, as well as the local rivers and lakes, will fish the gulf coast marshes for some saltwater action!
