Getting Ready for Our Alaskan Adventure

Our excellent Alaskan adventure is just around the corner, launching on June 15, 2026! As we inch closer to the date, the anticipation is palpable, and we're buzzing with excitement. From planning our route to packing the essentials, each step brings us closer to experiencing the wild beauty of Alaska.

Mapping Our Journey

We've been diving into all things Alaska, and I recently picked up a book at Sowbug titled "Alaskan Camping." This fantastic resource has been a game-changer, as it suggests that two months is the ideal time to road trip from Fairbanks and back to the states. Amazingly, that’s exactly the timeframe we planned for our journey! Our mapped-out route remarkably aligns with their recommendations, which gives us confidence that we are on the right track.

What to Expect on the Road

During our trip, we can expect to encounter stunning landscapes, breathtaking mountains, and perhaps even a few friendly moose along the way! The diverse wildlife and unique natural wonders in Alaska have us eager to hit the open road with our camper. From camping under the stars in serene locations to exploring local parks, every day promises to bring a new adventure.

As we prepare and finalize our plans, we’re also excited to meet fellow adventurers along the way. Sharing stories and experiences can make the journey even more rewarding. Whether it's striking up a conversation with fellow travelers or indulging in fresh fish caught right from the Alaskan waters, we look forward to making memories that will last for a lifetime.

This Alaskan adventure is more than just a road trip; it’s an opportunity to embrace nature and immerse ourselves in the great outdoors. If you’re thinking about your own adventure in the future, let this be a nudge to start planning. As we prepare for our trip, we’ll keep you updated and share tales of our encounters in the Last Frontier!

It is the charge of the North Louisiana Fly Fishers to afford to the general public and our members in particular, a better understanding of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. We wish to perpetuate the sport as a most pleasurable and exciting fishing method and provide education, instructions and the opportunities for relaxation to the membership.

The North Louisiana Fly Fishers (NLFF) serves the Ark-La-Tex area surrounding Shreveport. As the closest cold water fishery, we consider the Little Missouri (Little Mo') river near Murfreesboro, AR our home waters. We also fish the local rivers and lakes. We even have a growing group of kayak fishermen that, as well as the local rivers and lakes, will fish the gulf coast marshes for some saltwater action!
