Entering No-Man's Land
West Texas: In Search of Scarce Fishing Waters
SCOTT & STEVE'S ALASKAN ADVENTURE

We're On a Roll
Steve and I are starting to hit our camping rhythm. We can set up and take down camp in about 20 minutes. It's nice to get the dirty work done efficiently.
Now We're Rolling...
We are no longer in familar territory. After leaving Palo Pinto Mountains, we booked it to the gateway to west Texas... Childress. This little town in the middle of nowhere is like a little oasis. We got a camp spot just steps from the most beautiful little pond you'll ever set your eyes on. Once the camper was set up, we were fishing. The fish were not big, but we caught plenty of them. It's great to go fish after a long days drive.
... And Still Rolling
The next day we set out on a real haul across the desert... all the way from Childress to a little campground just north of Albuquerque. Along the way, we had our first mechanical issue. The front passenger blinker went out. We stopped and got a bulb. It blew again. Oh well, we will trouble shoot it as time goes on. In the grand scheme of things, if something is going to break, let it be a light blub. Yes, the good Lord is taking care of us. We drove over 400 miles on this little jaunt. But now we are set up for a bucket list stop... the San Juan River in northern New Mexico.
So far this trip has been about driving, fishing, camping, and stopping at Walmart. Walmart is a real lifeline. We get everything we need in one stop. Life is good.

It is the charge of the North Louisiana Fly Fishers to afford to the general public and our members in particular, a better understanding of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. We wish to perpetuate the sport as a most pleasurable and exciting fishing method and provide education, instructions and the opportunities for relaxation to the membership.
The North Louisiana Fly Fishers (NLFF) serves the Ark-La-Tex area surrounding Shreveport. As the closest cold water fishery, we consider the Little Missouri (Little Mo') river near Murfreesboro, AR our home waters. We also fish the local rivers and lakes. We even have a growing group of kayak fishermen that, as well as the local rivers and lakes, will fish the gulf coast marshes for some saltwater action!
