Countdown to Adventure: Our Alaskan Road Trip Awaits!
SCOTT & STEVE'S ALASKAN ADVENTURE
The Excitement is Building
With just ten days to go before our Alaskan trip, the sheer magnitude of this adventure is starting to sink in. One of my friends jokingly dubbed it the "destiny of doom tour." In response, I made him laugh by telling him that my wife has actually purchased some "body transport" insurance. Just in case anything goes awry, they can ship me back home! His retort was hilarious: "You won’t need that. After the bear gets finished with me, Steve can just send me back in a regular envelope!" Yep, the laughs will keep us entertained for sure.
Bear Preparedness
In light of our impending journey into the wilderness, I’ve invested in some bear spray and a little "bear bell" to hopefully keep those big furry creatures at bay as I cautiously waddle through the woods. Naturally, my friend had to throw in another joke, asking, "Do you know how to tell bear scat from moose scat?" I, of course, had no idea. He quickly enlightened me with, "Bear scat has little bells in it!" Cue the laughter again, folks! Then I got to thinking about the old joke, "You only have to be faster than the one next to you!" Maybe that is why Steve was so willing to go on this trip with me as I think he can outrun me! The laughter continues...
Not Just a Fishing Trip
What truly excites me about this trip is that it doesn’t revolve around family obligations or specific itineraries like most of my travels do. Sure, we’ll undoubtedly spend time fishing, but let’s be real—that’s secondary to our primary mission: driving the Alaska Highway! This is something that’s been on my bucket list for ages, and now I finally have a chance to make it happen. It all started when I was visiting Steve, and we both agreed that it was something we wanted to do. Thus, the plan for this epic 2-3 month journey took shape. The date was set over a year ago, and now we’re just ten days away from embarking on this sure to be unforgettable adventure!
As I sit here reflecting on our plans, it’s hard not to feel a rush of excitement and anticipation. This road trip has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait to make new memories, see luscious landscapes, and who knows, perhaps a few bear encounters—hopefully from a safe distance! Here’s to the adventure ahead. Stay tuned as we prepare to hit the road!

It is the charge of the North Louisiana Fly Fishers to afford to the general public and our members in particular, a better understanding of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. We wish to perpetuate the sport as a most pleasurable and exciting fishing method and provide education, instructions and the opportunities for relaxation to the membership.
The North Louisiana Fly Fishers (NLFF) serves the Ark-La-Tex area surrounding Shreveport. As the closest cold water fishery, we consider the Little Missouri (Little Mo') river near Murfreesboro, AR our home waters. We also fish the local rivers and lakes. We even have a growing group of kayak fishermen that, as well as the local rivers and lakes, will fish the gulf coast marshes for some saltwater action!
