Change of Plans: A Family-First Approach
Just over a month before setting off on what we envisioned as an unforgettable Alaskan adventure, Scott and I faced our first little hiccup. The excitement was tangible as we initially planned to leave on June 15th. But on learning that my son, Jeffrey, who serves in the U.S. Army, would be back in the States in May and June for his warrant school graduation, our plans took a necessary turn. We'll be leaving on June 19th instead, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Why Family Comes First
Jeffrey is graduating on June 17th, and this achievement marks a significant milestone in his career. It’s a moment that calls for family support and celebration. As his graduation draws closer, I can't help but feel a wave of pride wash over me. After all, these precious memories with family are irreplaceable. Missing his graduation would be something I’d regret forever.
Adjusting Our Itinerary for the Adventure Ahead
So, with the updated departure date, we’re now planning our Alaskan itinerary with a bit more flexibility. It’s an opportunity to make sure we have all the essentials packed and ready. We’ll still explore the breathtaking landscapes, the stunning wildlife, and the unique culture that Alaska has to offer, just a few days later than originally planned. I’m counting on this trip to be a fantastic bonding experience and a well-earned escape into nature.
In the meantime, as we await this exciting adventure, we are busy preparing. From researching the best spots to visit in Alaska to gathering essential gear, every moment leading up to the trip builds the anticipation even further. Amazing views, fresh air, and quality friendship time are just around the corner, and it’s all worth the wait.
